Poor Unfortunate Souls: Female Founders
A study revealed that top VCs were nearly 90% male. Seventy-two percent of founders funded by top VCs were white, and a little over a third — 35% — were based in Silicon Valley. Almost 14% were Ivy League-educated. Their mindset is also parochial when it comes to ROI (Return On Investment), which frames the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) that scale the companies into exploitative entities at the cost of integrity, accountability, public safety and planetary health.
Brands: Asserting Identity yet Pursuing Anonymity
Are brands merely cultural icebergs, hiding the bulk of their nefarious activity beneath the PR waterline, seemingly innocuous, until it becomes evident how many costs were consciously passed on to ecology and society! Is greenwashing and purpose washing notching open the bows of the blue marble and the biodiversity it harbours, against the extractive shards of commerce, until life collapses under the pressure of cumulative negligence, resource depletion and data misrepresentations?
Age of Accountability: ESG & CSR
At present, we have a guns and butter model trade off when it comes to corporate social responsibility. The extent to which our two hands are aware of the impact each has on the other defines how pointless the social or environmental good being executed by the brand or institution is.
For Better or Worse: Metaverse
The metaverse affords just the degree of separation needed to beg forgiveness instead of ask for permission. The footprint of these imaginary stores located on these fictitious worlds costs real world resources to run. To keep people from focusing on this truth, the metaverse separates people from one another and ensures we all disregard the planet we all depend on.
The Block Party
Let’s talk about “blockchain,” because everyone is and if you aren’t you are either dead or frozen in an error state and in need of a reboot.
Time For a New Era
The Anthropocene (Age of Man) is the geological period defined by industrialization, extractive processes and linear definitions of progress and product lifespans.
